Ever since taking the position of astronomy professor four years ago, Kassius had never been busier. Almost all of her time was spent teaching and grading papers. She couldn't even begin to understand how the previous professors had dealt with it. There was the added fact that she had to do her own star charts every night just to make sure she had a sheet to go by when grading her student's papers. Why this was a required course until the end of a student's fifth year was quite beyond her, though she wasn't about to complain. She loved teaching the subject. It was too bad that her eldest son, Kyle, had never shown any sort of interest in the subject.
He was, in actuality, going down the very same path Kassius had started down when she graduated from Hogwarts. She had been an auror in training until she found out she was pregnant with Kyle, and she had been a double agent for the death eaters up until she took the teaching position at Hogwarts. She just hoped that Kyle wouldn't make the same mistake as her and sleep with someone in the order. He really didn't need to become a father at eighteen, just as she had become a mother at eighteen. Of course, she couldn't protect him from everything, and he was bound to make a few of the mistakes she had made when she was his age. She just hoped they wouldn't have a negative effect on him.
Sighing, she brushed her hair out of her eyes and leaned back in her chair, clenching and un-clenching her left hand in an attempt to lessen the soreness. She had been sitting there writing for too long and her hand had cramped; she needed a break. Stifling a yawn - she really wanted to go home and sleep, but it just didn't seem possible with so many papers to grade - she got up and headed up to the top of the astronomy tower, where she knew it was going to be incredibly cold. It was late November, and it was almost midnight. Of course it was going to be cold. She briefly considered herself lucky for remembering to grab her sweater as she reached the top of the tower, and looked up toward the night sky. Stars were twinkling brightly, and it made the woman feel calm. She could sit and watch the sky for hours and not get bored. It always seemed to make her feel peaceful.
She hadn't been there long when she heard footsteps echoing up the staircase, and she sighed, rather upset that she couldn't enjoy any time alone unless she was grading papers. She wouldn't be so annoyed if it was Kyle visiting her, or possibly even one of her other children, Kylar, Kassandra, or Kandace, but she wasn't really in the mood to speak with anyone just yet. She might have the satisfaction of catching a student out of bed after hours, and would definitely love giving them detention. Of course, she never gave out a bad detention. Usually it was just writing lines in her classroom for an hour or two every night for a week. She was never a strict teacher, and there was quite a few of her students that were thankful for it.
Finally the footsteps reached the top of the stairs, and everything went silent. Kassius simply stood there, her eyes still on the sky, and waited to see how the new person would react. If they turned and left, it meant a student out of bed after hours. And then she would have to chase them down and scold them, which she was not looking forward to. But after a few long, tense moments, nothing happened, so Kass turned slowly, asking, "Can I help you?" in the most polite voice she could manage. She wasn't really paying attention to who she saw, and wasn't really concerned with who it might be unless it was one of her own children. She just wanted to go home and get some sleep.

Shelby was standing at the top of the astronomy tower. It was late in the evening and she had noticed whoever the astronomy teacher was, left some papers to be graded. It made her grateful in a way that she didn't personally have to grade them. Years ago, fourteen to be exact, she quit her astronomy post to become a professional quidditch player. Honestly, it was the best decision she had ever made. It allowed her in a way to have children without the headmaster getting his boxers in a twist when she would have to call for maternity leave seeing as she had four kids now of her own. Walking up the small staircase to the upper level of the observation deck, she placed her hands on the ledge as she looked out over the grounds.
One thing she missed about this job was the view she got to have every night. Looking over the grounds of Hogwarts and up towards the night sky full of stars and other celestial bodies. It was just breathtaking to the former ravenclaw. The wind played through her blond curly locks that laid near the lower part of her back. It made her smile as the fabric on her dress flowed along with her hair. Her mind lately had been on the fact that she escaped from the death eater headquarters. Many of the death eaters didn't know that they had such a famous person captive but she was still on her highest guard. Shelby didn't want to get recaptured by the death eaters or worse dark lord. She was certain that they would try to kill her this time around instead of interrogating her over and over. The result after she would say she knew nothing and was actually telling the truth was either physical abuse or sexual. Six months of that did damage on the woman and was still hesitant about everything. Who could really blame her? That's when she heard the voice, "Can I help you?" it made her jump a little bit. Shell was so in her own little world that she didn't realize someone was up here with her. She figured it was the new astronomy professor and it didn't effect her too much. She taught here and still felt like a piece of her were here in this classroom. Turning around, she walked down the small set of stairs and close enough so the woman was in her sights.
That's when it dawned on her. It was Kassius. Kassius Walker. Just her name could give her chills down her back. For some reason one night, it seemed like they were going to have sex and who knew what would have happened. But it just didn't play out that way. Though their make out session out in Diagon Alley years ago was still fresh in her mind now as her aquamarine eyes glanced at the woman. A faint smile appeared to her lips as she played with a curl that was dangling over her shoulder and to her rib cage. "Hey there Kass. Haven't seen you in a long time. Fifteen years or so?" she asked her with a faint tilt of her head as the wind made its way into the tower, sweeping the ends of her curls around as she bit her glossed lower lip. Would she remember her? She figured she would. After all, it seemed like now in the wizarding world unless you lived under a rock, you knew that she was one of the more popular keepers in professional quidditch in a while. "Don't tell me you took up my post when I left did you?" she laughed some as she smiled towards the woman.

Kassius' breath caught when she saw who it was standing before her. She didn't need to know anything about Quidditch to know that the woman standing before her was Shelby Crescent. Or rather, Shelby Hawthorne, since she had heard about the retired Keeper getting married to Spencer Hawthorne. She hadn't exactly been pleased when she found out the former Ravenclaw was getting married, but she couldn't do anything about it. And she had followed the woman's Quidditch career very closely during the time it had lasted. Not that she would ever admit to it. Of course, there was a lot of things she would never admit to. And most of them involved Shelby.
As she stood there watching Shelby, their last encounter seemed to play itself over in her mind... over, and over, and over again. She was by far not happy with her choices then, and would probably redo it all over again if she was given the chance. The ice cream flinging was kind of funny, even if Shelby had bitched about it and dumped what was left of her ice cream on top of Kass' head. And Kass had to follow the blond, all because she'd wanted to sleep with her. It hadn't happened of course, but Shelby had found out then that Kass was actually bi-sexual, and not straight, as she had been pretending to be for most of her life.
She swallowed and forced herself to take a deep breath. It was certainly surprising to see Shelby. As the woman had just said, it had been around fifteen years since their last encounter. But it wasn't so much the fact that so much time had passed. It was seeing her here, at Hogwarts. "Yeah, it's been around fifteen years, I suppose," she agreed, doing a quick calculation in her head. Kassandra and Kandace had just turned thirteen recently, and they had been born a little more than two years after the last time Kass and Shell had spoken. So yes. Fifteen years, more or less. Hearing Shelby's next question, she couldn't help but smile lightly. "Oh, no. This is only my fourth year of teaching. I''m pretty sure you've been gone longer than that, Shelby."
Seeing the shorter woman smile made Kassius bite her lip. It brought back a lot of feelings she thought she had gotten rid of over the past fifteen years, and she didn't like it one bit. She really didn't need this right now - she had to focus on her work, after all, and that was going to be impossible with Shelby around. Why did the damned woman have to show up here, of all places? Sure, it was kind of nice to see her, but not at Hogwarts. Hogwarts was meant for learning... And spending time with Shelby would probably not end up with either of them learning anything, if tonight ended just as their last meeting had.
But if she was going to be in Shelby's presence for any extended period of time - which she likely would be, since it was Shelby - she knew she should probably start making conversation. "So what has you here tonight, Shell? Visiting your kids or something?" How many kids did Shelby have now? The last time Kassius had checked, there was only one - Violet, who was now in her fifth or sixth year. It would only make sense that Shelby would have more now, since fifteen she had always spoken about having more kids. It would probably be safe to assume four or five, since there was a chance that she might have a kid or two that wasn't yet in Hogwarts.

Shell smiled to the woman. She had a feeling that she knew what she was thinking in her mind. The incident between them at their last meeting. It wasn't that Shell was avoiding her or anything, but having three more kids after Violet then playing quidditch since she was twenty four til she was thirty two... that was another years of always traveling around the continent and even internationally. Though since then, Shell wasn't as attracted to women as she was to Kassius years ago. She figured that it was because she got married and settled down with him and only Spencer, but as she looked to Kass; her feelings were coming back. Sure, she found women beautiful and would admire their beauty, but since that night in Diagon Alley she never kissed another woman after that. Even with being on the Holyhead Harpies, she soon learned that all of them for the most part were bisexual or lesbians and would sleep together. All Shelby knew was that she was hit on constantly but she would turn them down.
None of them would ever compare to Kass in her mind. Even if they didn't get too far that night just wasn't the same. Now that she was standing in front of her like this... Shell's eyes shifted to the teacher's desk and then to Kass. Oh how her mind was torturous. All it could think was grabbing Kassius and pinning her to that desk. But having no experience practically she would be lost completely on what to do. Her eyes refocused on Kass and smiled to her. "Nope. No visiting. I just wanted to see the stars tonight. But rough lately with Spencer is all." she shrugged as she tried to hide the frown but it was hard to. Hell, Spencer got upset over just a guy winking at her on the street lately. Shelby understood why he was acting like he was. She had been missing for six months but seriously? Just the way he acted was making her frustrated and she hadn't voiced this to anyone except Kassius just now. "I see you got a bit to grade. I could help if you want." she offered as she walked a bit closer to her so she was standing close to Kass and her desk. Shell didn't want to go home yet. She just wanted to relax and spend time either looking at the stars or with an old friend. It happened to be Kassius and she wasn't complaining one bit.

It was definitely odd, to be standing in the Astronomy Tower at Hogwarts with Shelby, since they had both graduated more than eighteen years ago. Hell, it was odd just seeing her. If Kassius were to be honest, everything about her current situation was odd, since she had never once thought she would end up in the Astronomy Tower with the graduated Ravenclaw. Definitely a surprise, she just couldn't figure out if it was good or not yet. She really didn't like the feelings that had been stirred up upon seeing Shelby again, but at the same time, she kind of did. It was nice to feel it for someone she knew wasn't going to play her, or just use her and leave her. She knew Shelby wasn't that type of person, the same type of person her children's father's had been.
Not visiting her kids? It didn't make sense that Shelby would be here then, if she wasn't visiting her kids. It didn't matter if she just wanted to see the stars, she could have gone just about anywhere for that. She was about to comment on that, politely of course, when Shelby added that things were rough with Spencer. Even though she knew she shouldn't be thinking the way she was, she couldn't help but hope the two would get divorced. No, she told herself silently, they had better stay together. Then she knew she wouldn't have a chance in the world with the woman in front of her. Of course, the fact that Shelby had been with someone hadn't exactly stopped Kassius from trying to get with her the last time they'd seen each other. Would the fact she was now married to a man be enough to stop her? Only time could tell.
It would definitely be a good thing to know, how things were going between Shelby and Spencer. "Do you want to talk about it?" she asked, feeling very uncomfortable. She had never really been one to discuss her own feelings and things of those sorts with others, and she had never once asked another person if they wanted to talk about those things too - not even her kids. She had always let it be known to them that they could talk to her if they wanted to, but they never seemed to. They were more likely to go to one another than her, and it suited her just fine. It at least showed that they were all close, unlike her relationship with her own siblings, which had always been a bit strained since the death of her mother.
She bit her bottom lip as Shelby took a few steps in her direction, asking if she wanted help grading the papers laying on her desk. She looked at the papers on her desk, and quickly looked away, knowing exactly what she would do if given the chance - probably the exact same thing Shelby was thinking, if she could remember correctly. Kassius had always had a bit of a dirty mind, and being in the same room as the beautiful blond certainly did not help matters. She was going to adamantly refuse to do anything... sexual with Shelby. She really didn't need a relationship right now, of any sorts. "Uh," she started, blinking several times. God, why did her mind always seem to go blank at times like these? It had always been so easy when she was younger... Was it because she wasn't such a whore anymore? Now that would be sad, if that were the reason. "I'd love your help, actually," she stated after a moment's pause. "I was hoping to finish all of this tonight, but I don't think it's possible unless I get some help." She smiled softly at the woman, very glad that Shelby was one of the former Astronomy teachers.

Shell had to admit, this was slightly awkward. Being in this tower with Kassius. They both loved Astronomy but still. It was just random that they both were here at the same time. Looking to Kass, she smiled as she shrugged again. What was there to really talk about with him? He was getting too jealous and clingy for her liking. Though that really didn't answer her question about if she wanted to talk about it or not.
"It's nothing much. Just he's been really clingy and jealous lately of anyone who even looks at me. Sorta like you did a few moments ago." she giggled as she took the couple more steps to be closer to her. With the high heels, she was around five three at the highest. Shell knew Kass had to be still maybe five or six inches taller than her even with the heels. Standing to her toes, she kissed her lips softly but yet Shell's feelings poured into the kiss for a good five seconds. Her hands were on her hips to keep her balanced. Letting the points of her shoes touch the ground she bit her lips she glanced up to the professor. "Sure I'll help you out love." she winked as she walked around the desk and sat in the chair, looking down to the star charts. Taking a quill she started to grade through them before looking back to Kassius. "So how have you been?" she asked in a sweet tone as she went back to grading the charts.

Clinginess was something Kassius was far from familiar with, so having Shelby tell her Spencer was being clingy made just standing there talking to her feel awkward, and Kass was kind of hoping Shelby would just leave now. "Oh, that sucks," she offered unhelpfully, lifting a hand to scratch the back of her neck. How else was she supposed to reply? By trying to offer advice for something she had no previous experience with? No. Giving advice was something she was also unfamiliar with, and she ind of hoped to keep it that way, since she was probably the worst person to ask for advice, due to her choices when she was younger.
Now, what was this about Spencer acting like that when someone so much as looked at her? That definitely sounded over protective, and although she could understand why Spencer would want to keep her safe - she did kind of look vulnerable, in a way - it was quite obvious that she did not need protection. Still, she could see where Spencer was coming from. In his position, she would be very jealous of everyone she came across while with her, because she would be afraid someone might steal Shelby from her. Not that anyone would ever steal Shelby from her, since she couldn't say Shelby was hers.
As Shelby walked closer to her, the last thing Kassius expected her to do was kiss her, even though she should have known better. She watched, puzzled, as Shelby came to a stop in front of her, stood on her toes, and only clued in once their lips were touching. It wasn't a long kiss, by any means, but it lasted a few long seconds for Kass, and she thoroughly enjoyed it, returning every feeling she got from Shelby. She felt slightly dizzy when the kiss was over, and blinked, frowning slightly. It had certainly been a long time since they had last kissed, but there was no way the kiss should be making her dizzy.. Right?
She watched mutely as Shelby went over to her desk and took a seat, marking the star charts as if she had the entire night sky memorized. Of course, it was Shelby, so chances were she did have the night sky imprinted in her brain. It brought a small smile to her lips, and Kass went to the other side of her desk and pulled it over so she could sit next Shelby and grade some of the charts as well. "I've been good," she said in reply to Shelby's question. "I'm mostly busy with work, but I lvoe it, so I can't really complain." She grinned at the blond before asking, "What about you? How have you been?"

Shell looked to Kass, shocked she even kissed her back. And it had feeling behind it. The kiss made Shell feel like her knees would give out right there even though she started the kiss in the first place. Seeing the girl frown, it made Shell wonder if she had feelings for her. It just seemed so unlikely after fifteen years and in the first place when they were in this predicament, it seemed Kassius just wanted sex from her which was more likely. The thing that made Shell find this funny was that they seemed so polar opposite about things mostly the way they dressed. How she could even feel something for someone so different from herself looked impossible to many.
After their kiss, Shell was sitting at the desk thinking Kass going to complain about the kiss or make her leave. Instead, she pulled a chair over to the desk and sat next to her to start grading along side her. Shelby nodded some to show she was listening as she finished a couple more charts. "These charts aren't half bad." she commented as she hardly had to make a mark on them so far. "I know I loved the job when I had it, so I would expect so." she said softly with a smile before sighing. "Nothing really. Sold the quidditch shop. I need to find something that can interest me again. My knee injury holds me back from playing and I really don't know what else I could do." she sighed as she got through her stack of charts. Looking at the table, she waved her hand and another stack of charts were graded to her standards. "I used to grade everything by hand but I learned a spell that does the same thing you can in a few seconds. Flitwick taught me before he left." she commented as Shell moved back some so her feet could lay on the desk and she crossed them as she looked to the windows. "It's beautiful isn't it?" she softly smiled, meaning the view from the tower.

The kiss ended all too soon for Kassius, and she watched as Shelby moved away to sit at the desk, desperately wishing Shelby had just stayed there so Kassius could kiss her again. No, she told herself, rubbing her eyes tiredly. One kiss doesn't mean the door has suddenly been opened and you can do whatever you want. But the kiss had been enough to make her actually want to do everything she could imagine doing with Shelby, no matter how bizarre it might be. And when she wanted to, she could get some really bizarre thoughts.
As she sat next to Shelby, she had to grit her teeth to keep from leaning over to kiss her. It was so odd. Fifteen years ago, Kassius would have said and done anything to get Shelby to sleep with her. And now she just wanted to kiss Shelby, nothing more unless Shelby wanted it. "I should hope they aren't bad," she told Shelby when she heard the words come out of the blond's mouth. "I am the one teaching them, after all. So they're bound to be good." She grinned lightly at the woman as she listened to her answer Kass' question. Her smile turned into a slight frown as she thought about Shelby's predicament. She had heard about the knee injury, though she had never gotten the details, and she wasn't about to ask now. "I could always see if I could pull some strings and have us both teach this class, if you like," she offered, though she doubted spending time with Shelby on a daily basis would be a good thing.
Kassius watched in silence as Shelby flicked her hand and a pile of the star charts were graded magically. So Flitwick had taught her to do that, huh? "Damn, maybe you should have shown up earlier so that I could have gotten this all done a long time ago," she stated, grinning. She wasn't exactly pleased with the fact Shelby then put her legs up on her desk and crossed them, but she didn't say anything because she didn't want to get into any sort of spout with the older woman. She followed her gaze to the windows, and nodded in agreement at her question. "Very beautiful," she stated, looking back to Shelby.
If the old Kassius had been here, she probably would have taken advantage of the situation and would have tried to seduce Shelby. So why was Kassius simply sitting there, doing nothing? I need to take more risks, she thought idly, leaning back in her chair. The knew Kassius wasn't sure if Shelby wanted to kiss her again or not, and that was enough to keep her from making any sort of advancement. Unless she was absolutely sure, she wasn't going to do anything. But was it worth simply waiting? What if Shelby was waiting for Kassius to make the first move now? It was time she took a risk. Leaning forward again, Kassius gently pressed her lips against Shelby's, tensely waiting for Shelby to push her away.

Shell's mind was going through what had happened between them just a few seconds ago. Was she really wanting to kiss her or was it almost like a test to see what Kassius would do. She did kiss her back but she didn't snatch her up to continue to kiss her either. It made Shelby confused as to what exactly Kass was thinking at the moment. If anything it was shock that the blond even considered to kiss her after fifteen years of not running into each other. As she sat there grading she looked to Kass to see any signs that she wanted to kiss her again but to her nothing was showing any real jumping out reasons. "This is true. I must say from these charts, you're a rather good teacher." she nodded once she was finished with grading all the charts on the desk.
Hearing the woman's suggestion, Shell shrugged faintly. "I wouldn't want to impose on your teaching schedule or if it may be your paycheck. But I honestly would love that. It would give me something to do again since Spencer sold the quidditch shop." The words quidditch shop were slightly bitter. It seriously pissed her off that Spencer sold her treasured possession and source of income. Sure, she was considered dead... but it showed her that he didn't give a damn about her business. Shelby laughed at her comment and faintly shrugged once more. "Well, you're free to go now. It's not like I'm keeping you here. I just wanted to look to the stars and I missed the tower." she said with a smile.
As she let out a sigh she was about to stand and walk out to one of the balconies to show she wasn't holding Kassius there for socializing, but her lips collided with the astronomy professors. This time she was shocked that she was the one kissing her this time around. Shell's hand moved to the side of her neck as the other linked fingers with Kassius as she leaned up from the chair some to kiss her back. She ignored the twitch of shearing pain going down her spine so she could lean over and continued to kiss her friend lightly.

Hearing Shelby praise her on her teaching skills certainly pleased Kassius, since Shelby had once taught this subject herself. And it was nice to be able to sit there and simply chat with the woman, after not having any sort of contact for fifteen years. Sure, she wanted nothing more than to kiss the former Ravenclaw, but still. If she couldn't kiss, she could settle for talking. It wasn't like her life revolved around sleeping with as many people as possible anymore. She was better than that, ever since she had ended up with her kids. She loved her kids, and desperately wished she could find someone to settle down with, someone who could be like another parent to her kids. She didn't care if the person was a girl or a guy, as long as she found someone.
She smiled as Shelby admitted she would love to help Kass teach. "Trust me, you wouldn't be imposing," she told the blond. "I'd love to have you around. I wouldn't have offered if I didn't." Nothing but the truth. That was Kassius these days. She might not speak exactly what was on her mind, but everything she said nowadays was the truth. So she certainly wasn't going to make up some bullshit lie about having a crush on her at Hogwarts just to get in the woman's pants. Although, that was something she certainly wouldn't mind doing. The getting in her pants part. Although, she wasn't so sure she wanted to. Her mind was as confusing as ever.
Ohyes. Kassius caught the bitterness in Shelby's voice as she named the shop she used to own. "I heard the shop had been sold," she commented lightly, hoping to get Shelby away from that topic quickly. But before she knew it, Shelby was rambling on about pointless nonsense. "I don't want to go," she told the graduated Ravenclaw, sounding positively sincere. It was true, she didn't want to leave. She rather liked talking to Shelby, and wasn't too eager for it to end... Especially with the kissing involved.
It wasn't exactly a comfortable position, leaning toward the blond in her chair to kiss her. But she managed it somehow, and found herself with one of Shelby's hands on her neck, and the other hand holding hers. This was definitely something she could get used to, given the chance.

Shell smiled at her comment before nodding. "I'll have to come by sometimes soon within the week and talk to the headmaster with you about it. Seeing as I taught the class already, I think I have the experience for it." she said with a faint smile still. Her ears picked up that the former hufflepuff didn't want to leave. It sounded like to Shell moments ago that she wanted to get all her belongings and go back to wherever her house was and just relax. Shelby knew she would feel the same if she was still teaching here with all the kids running about creating havoc.
Shell was ecstatic that Kassius kissed her back this time. It was awkward the way they were sitting in the chairs and had to lean practically out of them to do so. It caused Shell to break their kiss and stand up and out of the chair she was in. Looking to Kassius, she took her hands and pulled her slowly to her feet. Her blue eyes traveled straight up to her own eyes as Kass was much more taller than the five feet tall raven. Spinning them around so that she could press Kass against the desk, she accidentally bumped the star charts along with other content to the floor. Shelby was going to ignore it when one image caught her eyes. It was a magazine with an image of her as one of the centerfolds. She was in lace purple bra and a thong as she laid in a bed with a seductive look to her face.
Shell had seen these photos before and remembered a time when she was a part time model between quidditch seasons. Pulling away from the woman, she walked to where the magazine was and realized there was a collection of magazines that was once under the charts. Picking some of them up, she flipped through the papers, feeling her jaw drop at the photos. Some were of her completely naked. Some were of her in muggle clothing ads. Most were of her in lingerie photoshoots. Paging through the one magazine with her in the main centerfold position of the magazine completely nude, she turned to Kassius with a curious expression and showed her the two pages. "Kass. What is this? Why do you have all of these?" she asked, moving the media book in her hands up some to signal to the photo of her laying on top of a red silk sheet with nothing else on.
