There was no way Lennie was going back to bed with a moon this big heaving over the sky. In the first place, she was just not tired. Laying in bed had done no good, except for the occasional, irritating toss and turn. A decision that looking at the moon out in the courtyard had somehow been a better idea. After getting out of bed and trying to navigate the maze-like corridors (and trying not to get caught, of course), Len was beginning to see it as a horrible idea. But, since she was already halfway outside, there wasn't any reason she could see for turning back. And now that Lenore was outside seeing the huge orb in person, she was all the more glad she didn't run back inside.
She was sprawled out on the outer ledge of the fountain that sat in the middle of the courtyard. The fountain had been turned off for the night, which meant the night was silent, save for the occasional rustling grass or small breeze. Lennie lie on her back, head propped up by the arms placed behind her head. Her eyes were fixated on the sky above her: moon and stars sparkling. It was quite the sight. Lenore closed her eyes for a moment and took in a deep breath of the cooling night air. A breeze ruffled her thin pajama pants and she sat up, crossing her legs indian-style. It was a little chilly outside, especially for her thin sleeping attire. Wrapping her arms around herself, she snuggled into her hoodie and continued looking up at that dashing night sky.
Suddenly, to her left, she heard an odd rustling that couldn't be identified as either the grass or the breeze. Or the breeze rustling the grass, for that matter. Quickly, Len shot a look beside her and saw much taller grass moving and waving about. "Crap..." Lennie whispered under her breath. Naturally, she was thinking the worst. That it was a teacher, realizing she had been out of bed, storming the halls, wandering around the grounds at this hour. As fast as she could, Lenore ducked into the bushes behind the fountain and hid there, for the time being. There was no way she could make a getaway without the other person hearing or seeing her. She decided to play it cool for as long as her legs would allow her.
Glancing at the spot Lenore herself was once sitting in, she saw a figure basically taking her spot on the fountain. A frown masked her face. She freaked out and moved for some random person stalking the grounds? If it had been a teacher or other member of the staff, they would've been gone by now. They certainly wouldn't have sat down for a nice rest. Lennie got up, dusted herself off, and remarked with a quiet, "Hey?" Just soft enough so the person wouldn't freak out.
