"I hate my job, I hate my job, I hate my job..." Sage whispered to herself while she cleaned the tables off for the umpteenth time today. Her words were quiet and discreet, nobody being able to hear them. They resembled the status of the pub itself. The Hog's Head was like one big secret; they had so many suspicious characters, hunched over telling secrets to one another that it made her head spin. Either way, they all had some odd characteristic about them. Some people looked at you funny, didn't want you to get too close to them, or just downright freaked you out. Which made her wonder what the point was in looking decent for a pub like this. After all, the people who came in here certainly didn't give two shits about their appearance, why should Sage have to?
Anyway, it wasn't an argument to be had. Sage was honestly just glad she was able to wear her old Chuck Taylor's today, instead of her horrid flats. She could be comfortable in her Converse, at least. Finally, she had finished cleaning the last table (that is, until the next round of people came in and fucked up all her cleanly glory) and looked at the clock. It was seven in the evening, and began gazing behind the bar, looking at her boss. Sage got his attention, looked at the clock and then looked at him again. Time for her break, it was, and he knew it. The man's eyes simply narrowed and he flashed his hand outward, representing that she had five minutes for a break.
Sure, it was a shitty break. More than likely, it probably wasn't even legal, but it was a break nonetheless. At least she could have five minutes to herself in this dive. Grinning giddily to herself, Sage tore off her apron as if it was a sign of oppression, which, in a way, was. She hung it on one of the hooks by the door and went around behind the bar. The only good thing about this place was that they allowed employees free drinks every now and again. Mainly, when the boss wasn't looking. At this point, he happened to have scuttled in the back. Sage took this opportunity to pour some champagne into a little paper cup (since glasses were reserved for customers and it would totally get her caught) and took it back to a table. Clearly it wasn't the best champagne in the world, and the fact that she was drinking it out of a paper cup made it all the less classy, but this was definitely going to get her through the rest of the night.

Kobby sat in his office, and sighed an enourmous sigh of relief as the last test of put into the file cabnit. Kobby hated tests, if he weren't required to give them he wouldn't. As the cabinet was locked, Kobby reached for his leather in need of a drink. His neck was tense due to sitting for so long but he knew it wasn't anything a Firewhiskey couldn't help. As he left his office he thought about going to the Hogs Head. He seemed to enjoy that place a bit more, despite the fact that it wasn't kept up well. It was less crowded and not well lit. Perfect for Kobby to have a drink to himself and just relax.
As he entered to small pub he looked towards the bar and saw a man working it. He wondered where the normal waitress was and as he looked around he spotted her at a table by herself. Now, he had met her a few times and they tended to get along fairly well. She was certainly a nice thing to look at it though sometimes he felt as if she wasn't entirely present. He wasn't sure what her problem was, but it was clear to him that she had one.
"Why are you by yourself Sage?" He asked, taking a seat next to her. He looked at her cup and shook his head. Kobby would never drink out of such a cup, it made the alcohol lose something, but what he wasn't entirely sure.

The door opened and the little bell at the top rang like a siren. She looked up at the clock. She still had three more minutes of her break, and there was no way she was going to get up and serve whoever this was coming in. They would just have to go sit at the bar and the boss could take care of it. Sage averted her eyes away from her drink long enough to see who was walking into the pub. To her surprise, it was Kobby, one of the professors from Hogwarts (ahh, Hogwarts, she had so many fond memories there...). A small smile replaced her vulgar distaste for customers coming in on her break. He was a good acquaintance when he stopped in here on occasion. And on the cuter side; Sage couldn't exactly call him an attractive guy, he was about five years younger than she.
Sage pulled up a chair for him, nodding as he walked in and made his way to where she was sitting. "I'm on break," She held up her little paper cup full of booze, "as if you couldn't tell." She laughed before taking a deep sip from the cup. She could see judgement in his eyes, shaking his head at her as her drinking etiquette wasn't exactly up to par in this place. "Hey," Her eyes narrowed at him playfully, "you know very well the only way I can drink this stuff on duty is if the boss doesn't know what it is. These cups are for water or soda, and so he clearly doesn't know I've been into his stash of cheap champagne."
Champagne sloshed around in the thin little paper cup. Yeah, this was cheap champagne alright, about as cheap as it could get. But she wasn't going to complain. If she could sneak a cup full in while she was at work, go her. "So what brings you down here, Kobby? I haven't seen you in a while." Sage noted, bringing the cup to her lips once more.

Kobby grinned when she narrowed her eyes at him. It was funny, but he decided not to comment on her facial expressions.
"Maybe Sage, you should just stop being an alcoholic" He teased before taking off his jacket. The one thing he liked most about this place was that it was never cold inside. Sometimes, it was too hot, but that didn't bother Kobby. He would rather be to hot then even a little cold anytime of the day.
Sage usually played along with his flirting, and it didn't bother Kobby that she was older. She was a good looking women, and Kobby wouldn't protest to having more then just a friend based interaction with her. he rmembered meeting her, and thinking that her waist would feel nice against his body. he couldn't help it, women were a weakness he had.
"To see you" He added as a matter of fact. Alright, she wasn't the reason but now that he was here, he certainly wasn't upset about being here.
"How long is your break for?" he asked, running a hand through her hair. He hated when they talked and she was working. It didn't leave a lot of room for him to make a move on her, which he would if she was ever not working. He grinned again when he looked at her.

Sage rolled her eyes at him. Kobby really didn't understand the meaning behind his words. Over the years, she had been a struggler with alcohol on and off. She never really admitted to being an alcoholic, though. Even if it was quite apparent in the workplace (really, who drinks during their break?).
"Maybe you should shut up." She wittily shot back at him, a sly grin on her face. He knew very well that she didn't take any teasing from him. "Aww, that's cute." Sage laughed, slightly mocking him for coming up here just to visit her. On some level, she knew it probably wasn't true, but she wasn't going to say otherwise. Kobby and her just had that joking kind of...friendship? Friendship might have been to specific, for they had only sat and talked a few times. But she certainly liked him as an acquaintance, and even a drinking buddy. "If you want something to drink, you're going to have to go up to the bar and order it yourself. I can't technically order you a drink when I'm working." Sage explained to him, figuring he probably wanted a drink if he came to a pub after all.
A little frown lit her face for a moment, knowing that her break was definitely ending soon. "Uhm..." She trailed for a moment, looking up at the clock in the corner. It was so dark in there, she couldn't even see which hand was pointing where. Flicking her eyes from the clock, she looked at her boss behind the bar, cleaning off glasses. He caught her eye and made a tapping motion against his wrist, clearly meaning that she needed to wrap it up with her break. "Not much longer, unfortunately." Sage sighed with a frown. She drained the remnants of her cup and set it back down at the table. This sucked. Finally someone to talk to and who wasn't a creep came into the pub and she had another hour on her shift.

"I'll get my drink in time, but I don't mind waiting for a few moments. Actually, I just come here normally to get away from the castle, but you being here is certainly a plus Sage" he commented. It sucked, that he had caught her on her break not because he didn't want to talk to her, but because they would start to talk and then she would have to go back to work and Kobby felt weird just waiting around for her to get off. Perhaps he would though, and actually try and get to know her. she seemed descent enough, and he always found something to talk about with her.
"Well, would you mind if I waited for you to get off? I mean, I have nothing else to do..." he let his sentence trail off as her boss was beginning to get an attitude. God, Kobby could just whack him in the face and not even flinch about it. That was a weakness of Kobby's, his temper. Though, he usually kept it under control sometimes he could just kill a person.
"Unless you would rather I didn't, it's understandable"

"Well yay me!" Sage laughed, a childlike element to her words. She truly gave him a warmhearted smile, though. It was nice that she was thought of other than in a weird, awkward way. And it was also good to know that Kobby enjoyed her company and conversation, just like she did his. Frankly, the timing did suck for him walking in. Conversation was something important in Sage's mind, and she hated when it got interrupted by trivialities such as bad timing. Oh well though, she really didn't have much of a choice in the matter. His next statement lifted her spirits immensely, however.
"Well, I wouldn't mind. But I have another hour until my shift is over." Sage shrugged her shoulders at him. Company would be awesome right now, and normally she wouldn't be one to object to it, but after all, this was a whole hour he'd have to wait, just sitting. Really, she wanted to let him know that he didn't need to feel obligated to do that. "So, it's really up to you. If you think you can hack an hour of this place, by all means, go for it." She shot him a smile before walking over and grabbing her apron off of the little coat hanger by the door.
The bartender/boss shot her a dirty look, shaking his head at her. Sage knew she probably went over her "five minutes" but whatever, she honestly didn't care right now. She was in a much greater mood than she had been. Before officially starting the remainder of her shift, she walked back over to Kobby and said, "Just try not to get too drunk." with a small grin tugging at the corners of her mouth.

He grinned when she said that if he wanted too, he could stay and he did want to stay. After all, he had nothing else to do and if he didn't stay he would just go back to the castle and that was a place he didn't want to be at the moment. To much drama at the castle, Drama that Kobby neither wanted to think about or deal with. All he wanted to do, was have a few drinks, talk with Sage and relax. The fact that her shift didn't end for another hour was a bit of a downer, but still he would stay. he could drink for an hour and talk, what were they going to do when she got off? Probably just talk some more, maybe he would get her something to eat because every knows the food here sucked.
"I think I can survive for an hour. I'm a grown boy" he replied with a bit of laugh as he winked at her. It was well worth the wait anyway, if they could hang out after. Even if they only talked, Kobby would like to get to know her as more then just a bartender.
She teased him about his drinking and he shrugged, not to worry about. Kobby could drink, but he would try to hold himself above a drunk status.
He walked over to the bar and took a seat, watching her for a moment before shaking his head. "So uh, could I get a firewhisky?"

Sage noticed the grin spreading on his face after her saying he was welcome to stay if he liked. This, of course, put a smile on her face as well. It was this type of interaction that she loved with this guy. He was funny yet realistic, and could always somehow put her in a good mood. Actually, just about anyone who came in to visit her during work so as to make it bearable for her put her in a good mood, but that wasn't really the point. Well, she was just happy she had company and someone to talk with after work.
"Hey, just making sure. I have enough drunk people to take care of in here on a daily basis, I don't need another one." Sage returned his wink, clearly showing she was kidding. She really couldn't remember ever seeing him drunk, so she wouldn't even know what his inebriated state would look like.
She took over the boss' place behind the bar counter and watched him disappear into the back. Rolling her eyes, she took over his post of cleaning some of the dishes. Kobby appeared in front of her over the counter. Giving him a look, she replied with a "Well, I suppose so." And a laugh, pouring him his drink and handing it over. "Just make sure you tip your bartender." She laughed and went about other parts of the bar, taking drink orders and cleaning dishes.

"But what if I'm a fun drunk?" He teased as he set his hands on the counter top. He liked Sage, and could see her as being more then just a friend but at the current moment Kobby didn't even want to think about getting involved romantically with another person of the opposite sex. he had a lot of drama right now with women. Violet was driving him crazy with her constent 'be with me' banter, and Caileigh was just a headache all around. Even though he knew they would never be together, it was tense with the past they had. And Mina was a wonderful women, but Kobby hadn't really been overly interested when they had talked so he was sure she probably wouldn't even talk to him right now.
Sage handed him a firewisky and he grinned as he took a drink of it. Normally, he would have just downed, but he was going to show self-control and maturity to prove that he could. Because she had asked him and Kobby understood that sometimes a person just needed a break in life.
Kobby let out a small laugh when she said he should tip her, and he would but probably not by just giving her money. He would offer her a meal or something, because Kobby was a gentlemen and his father would have wanted him to behave as one.
She walked away, and started to clean tables and do the little things her low paying job asked of her, and Kobby watched her thinking to himself.

"Depends on whatcha mean by 'fun.'" Sage called back to him, laughing. Kobby was such a good guy, well, at least as far as she could tell. Though Sage didn't know him all too well, from what she gathered by talking with him during nights like these, he seemed like a pretty chill guy. She had fun with him, anyway. Especially during the times she was having a terrible day at work. Kobby always knew the right amount of humor that would get her out of her shitty moods. Actually, she was beginning to consider him a pretty good acquaintance of hers, who was soon to be promoted as a real friend. And of course, she had to admit that he was pretty good looking. There wasn't any way to get around that in her head.
Time went by. Tables were cleaned, minimal conversation with Kobby was made when it could be, people were given drinks, and more. Since she was the only waitress on call that night, Sage was working as quickly as possibly. The Hog's Head really never got that many customers, but the way she saw it, the quicker she worked, the less grumpy people were and the earlier she could get off her shift.
Eventually, forty five minutes had gone by, and Sage looked around the pub: empty. The boss was still lingering around, and Sage happened to shoot him a look and he got the message. Rolling his eyes, the boss gave Sage a nod that said "go ahead a run on home." A smile lit up her face as she quickly undid her hideous apron.
"Finally." She sighed, running up to Kobby to let him know that she was finally getting off work. A smile was on her face, happy she could leave this hole of a place. Sage held up a finger to Kobby, telling him to hold on a second. Running into the back, she grabbed her purse and began to shove the ugly apron inside of it, along with her name tag. She grabbed her coat off the coat hook and shrugged herself into it, pulling her bag over her shoulder as well.
Sage walked back out from behind the bar, staring at Kobby with a smile. "Please, lets get out of here. " She laughed, wondering what on earth they could possibly go do. It was, after all, kind of late; Sage didn't know where the two could possibly go to hang out.

Kobby had a very vast definition of fun, but the type of fun he was thinking about was slightly inappropriate just for the mere face that he and Sage weren't technically friends. Or at least, he didn't think she viewed him as a friend just yet... but, the more he thought about it the more he could say they were friends. After all, here he was sitting at a bar waiting for her to get off. And once she was off, the two were going to go and do something. That was something that two friends did wasn't it? Kobby wasn't good with this kinda of thing, just being someone's friends.
He smiled to himself throughout the rest of her shift, and slightly at the conversation they had though it wasn't much. They breifly talked about his job and why he liked it but honestly Kobby didn't want to talk about his work right now. he just wanted to relax, have a few drinks and laugh for a bit and so that what was he did. Kobby ordered a few more drinks and though he was well away from being drunk he could certainly tell that he had a buzz going. That was alright with him, alcohol always made Kobby more likable. Or maybe that was just the drinks talking.
After her shift was up, Kobby could tell because her persona changed. Sage, to him, became more delightful and eager. She came up to him, and Kobby sensing the change stood up. He swayed a little bit, but not the extent that he was going to fall over.
"Dun??" He asked in an odd tone before shaking his head a bit. He laughed at her back as she ran to the back room but was happy when she came back with her things. He nodded and as she asked if they could leave Kobby held out his arm for her take. He wasn't sure if he wanted to help himself walk, or if he was offering her it in a friendly manner.
"Where do you want to go??" He asked as they walked towards the exit
