Ginny was struggling - it had been a year, but she still lost the love of her life and her brother. She was trying to move on and it was going okay actually. She was in her seventh year, so she had lots of things to do. She was studying for her N.E.W.T's and was the quidditch captain. So yeah, she kept herself preoccupied. But right now she needed to talk to her brother, Ron and Hermione. Hermione was her best friend.
Ginny had talked to Professor McGonagall and she had agreed that she left for the day to meet up with Ron and Hermione. She knew what Ginny was going through. Ginny had thanked her, and had found the Knight Bus and was now in muggle London, where she had agreed to meet with Ron and Hermione at a secret place. It was a small café. As she entered the café she sighed. Everything felt so pointless without Harry by her side. She was just glad that she wasn't present when he died. That would have hurt too much. But the news about him being killed, along with Fred being death was too much for her. After it had happened, Ginny had been kind of an introvert, didn't really talked to anyone. But now it had been a year and she was starting to feel better, even though she still felt alone and sad at times.

Hermione grinned as she started through muggle london. She had finally landed a job, even if it wasn't exactly her ideal job. She had tried to get a job for a long time, and with each rejection Hermione had begun to sink deeper and deeper into her depression. She would have gone back to Hogwarts with Ginny if Harry had only won the war, and promptly Hermione's grin fell off her face. Harry had died though, and because of everyone's fear that Voldemort would attack them and their family, Hermione had trouble getting her job. Not just because she was a muggle born this time, but because she had been best friends with Harry Potter.
Hermione knew herself well, and if she didn't stop thinking about how different things would be with Harry around... She would be crying and trying to rush through the crowd so they wouldn't all see her tears. She couldn't think about what she could have to so Harry would be better prepared. That was off limits for her. At least, for now it was.
She had changed out of her nicer clothes before starting to meet Ginny and Ron at a muggle cafe, but had left what little make up she had worn on. She hadn't had time to wash it off before leaving. She was dressed like a muggle, though honestly she did that more often than not. A few people brushed or bumped against her on the busy streets, and Hermione turned the corner to the less busy sidewalk that led to the cafe. Oh, she couldn't wait to see Ginny again. Hermione didn't quite get along with many girls, but with Ginny it was like Hermione had the sister she never had. Scratch that, her parents had another daughter while hidden away and she didn't think it would be wise to mess with their minds any more. Ginny was like the younger sister she could never see.
Pushing open the door, Hermione walked in and smiled as she saw the female red head. "Hey." She said quietly, looking around the few occupants there. A female that appeared to be finishing her coffee and a male just sitting down to eat his snack. Hermione walked over to Ginny and wrapped her arms around the girl, giving Ginny a well earned hug. "I've missed you, Gin."

Ron had received his sister's owl the week before, and he had talked to his auror advisor about working only a half day- which his advisor had agreed to, and then promptly forgot about. Ron was hurrying down the sidewalk at a faster than necessary pace, already knowing he was late.
Ron felt like he had been living at the ministry lately, and when not there, he was at Weasley's Wizarding Wheezes, helping George run the shop. Very little time was left for him to have a social life or even to sleep, and Ron was suffering for it. He missed his best friend, and he missed spending time with his girlfriend, but he was pretty sure Hermione understood that he wasn't avoiding her, he was just trying to make a living that would eventually get them somewhere.
The question was where? Ron, like any typical guy, hated any talks of the future, despite the fact that he thought about it quite frequently. Now that he and Hermione were actually a couple, Ron had naturally considered where it might go. He didn't foresee any possible future when she wasn't around him, and naturally Ron expected to... sooner or later... ask her to marry him. The thing was, Ron didn't have the money right now to buy her anything close to a ring, or even to move out of George's apartment above the shop, and Ron's pride wouldn't allow him to bring Hermione into that. So for now, they were at a stalemate.
Ron pushed the door to cafe, a draft of cold air following him in. It wasn't hard to spot the two women in the corner, his sister with her vivid red hair so like his own, and Hermione, who was, well, hard not to look at. Ron went over to them and offered a tired smile as he shrugged off his cloak. "Hey. Sorry I'm late."

It was funny, ever since the battle, Ginny had started treating Ron like an actual adult. She didn't yelled at him so much more. And it was actually nice. She knew that he was going through some things too, and he had actually grown up - finally asked Hermione out and such things. Ginny smiled when she heard Hermione's voice and hugged her back. Hermione was always very calm and that helped Ginny. After a few minutes, Ron entered the café too and Ginny smiled at him. She noticed how tired he looked, but didn't commented it.
She had often thought about how it was feeling like to help George out in the shop - probably not very fun. George was probably feeling even worse than she did. One of these days, she had to visit him and just talk. Ginny was sure he needed to talk and maybe cry a little bit. No matter how much Ginny missed her brother, she was sure that George was the one suffering the most. They were twins after all, did everything together. The thought made her sad.
When she felt Hermione's hug it felt like she was about to cry. It was all too overwhelming - they had lost their best friend and Ginny had lost the only true love in her life. The boy she thought she was going to marry and have kids with eventually. But nope, Voldemort didn't wanted that to happen. "Hey. Good to see you both" she said with a small smile and ignored Ron's comment. He was always late, but right now it didn't mattered.
Ginny felt extremely calm right now - sitting here. It felt like bliss, but of course it wasn't. They might be in muggle London and Voldemort couldn't strike here, but he was basically just around the corner. "You guys want something to eat?" she asked with another small smile.

Hermione sat down with Ginny and smiled at Ron as he came in. Late, but really he had arrived nearly directly after her so she didn't think he had been that late. "It has been a while since we spent some time together." She stated, and leaned back against her seat. She had to smile at the moment, even if there was a pang of hurt in their meeting. They were missing very important person in this little meeting, and he would never be coming.
"I ate before I came." A lie, but at the moment she hadn't started her work yet and she was very tight on money. She had very little in her cupboards, but that was what she had to eat till the tips came in and she got her first check. Then, she could eat at cafe's like this when she was going to meet with people. "How is school so far Ginny?" It was a good question, and since Voldemort had taken over schooling would change wouldn't it? Instead of Defense Against the Dark Arts, it might change to the Dark Arts. Muggle Studies might disappear or change to how all muggles were terrible creatures. Voldemort would ruin the studies of several students, and that would be another reason Hermione needed to see him defeated. Another one on her now growing list of unforgivable sins that he had done.

"Hey Gin." Ron said, dropping his coat sloppily on the back of his chair before sitting. He absently took Hermione's hand in his, making a face when she said she had eaten previously. "Come off it, 'Mione." He got up again, heading to the sales counter. He had a few muggle dollars on him, exchanged earlier at the ministry since he had known he would be coming into Muggle London today. He bought three hot chocolates with whipped cream and a few cookies before returning to the table and setting one down in front of each of the girls.
He looked up to watch his sister as he took a sip of his drink, then set it down, licking off the whipped cream mustache. It wasn't as good as butterbeer, but Ron did fancy a nice cup of hot chocolate every now and then.
He too was curious about the changes at Hogwarts- after all, he had been around for the infamous ministry overtaking of the school, but at least Dumbledore had still been around for most of it. Now he was dead, and so was Harry- it was like the darkness would never lift. He just hoped his sister was keeping her nose down and drawing as little attention to herself as possible- after all, the Weasleys had sunk even lower in status after the lost battle, and Ginny, like everyone else in their family, had the ability to speak up when it wasn't really a good time. This wasn't Umbridge they were fighting against, but Voldemort. A whole different game.
The idea was sobering, and quite depressing, really.

Ginny wasn't the richest of people, but she did have some muggle money. It was all new for her too see Hermione being broke. But nevertheless, she knew why. It couldn't be easy as a muggleborn to get a job in the magical world, while your boyfriend is in the magical world and you want to be close to him. But Ginny respected Hermione's new job, even though she knew that it wasn't the perfect job for her. It was a job nevertheless and it paid the bills. Ginny was just stuck at Hogwarts without anyone except for Luna by her side. It was sad and many times she felt awfully alone and just wanted to cuddle up in her mother's lap, but it was now she had to be strong and show everyone how a rue Weasley can be.
When the hot chocolate was placed in front of her, she smiled and looked at Ron. And then Hermione started asking questions. Ginny didn't mind that too much. She took a sip of her chocolate before answering. "It's... well not too bad really. Except for all the subjects are taught by death eaters now. Except for Transfiguration. McGonagall is the only teacher that stayed. Or was allowed to stay. Oh and yeah.. I was made quidditch captain, so I play a lot and I like to be busy... you know.. after what happened." Even though Ginny was moving on, she still couldn't say his name. It was too painful. And if she mentioned it, she was sure that she was going to cry. So she didn't said it.
It was weird being at Hogwarts without any family members - there had always been at least one brother she could find some sort of support in. But now, when she needed it he most, there were no one. So it was pretty tough. She didn't told this to Hermione and Ron though, they had their own problems

Hermione tried to hide a smile when Ron took his hands in hers, and laughed when he caught onto her lie. She always had been bad at lying, so really it didn't surprise her. Perhaps she had guilty written on her forehead when she tried, but she didn't like letting other people pay for her things. Even if it was Ron. She accepted the hot chocolate with a smile. "I'll pay you back when I can." She told him, then went to hold his hand like they had before he went to buy them all something. Did he really have enough money to do that? She supposed maybe with his two jobs but even when Harry had been filthy rich she hadn't like using his money.
Hermione began to eat the whip cream first, not wanting her own whip cream mustache. Besides, she always would scoop the whip cream out anyway. She used her finger and began eating it as Ginny talked about Hogwarts. McGonagal had stayed, well at least that was one teacher Ginny could reply on. "Congradulations!" Hermione said, leaned over to give Ginny a hug. "You must be so proud." In the back of her mind, she wondered how Ginny thought about her new position. Harry had it the year before, did she think that she was replacing him?
"Well, a good education is important if you want a good job, Ginny. If you work on getting good grades, then on Quidditch strategies I'm sure you'll be busy. I was busy enough working on getting good grades on my OWLS and NEWTS, then on the homework that the teachers give. Keeping busy really doesn't seem that hard." Hermione said, encouraging Ginny to keep her grades high. It was a job learning all the facts that could be on the NEWTS. It was about ten times harder than the OWLS.

Ron shrugged when Hermione said she'd pay him back- he wasn't that worried about it. One thing about being perpetually broke? It wasn't as disappointing returning to the point at which you started. Ron couldn't buy his girlfriend shiny jewelry, but he could buy her a drink every now and then. It was just less snack money for him later. Still, he had learned with that the less he argued with Hermione, the longer they went without bickering- and there was always the off chance she would forget. And if she didn't, well, the cycle would start all over again.
"McGonagall, really?" Ron asked, a little surprised. She was the first that he would have pegged to go after Voldemort took over, since she was so close to Dumbledore and all. "How did she manage that?"
When his sister mentioned being made captain, Ron actually smiled. "Good job, Gin." He congratulated. It brought back memories of Harry, certainly, but Harry would have been proud of Ginny too, so there was no reason to be sad about that. Then again, it still wasn't a good enough reason to bring it up in front of Ginny, either.
He caught his sister's eye when Hermione went off on one of her infamous speeches on grades and the importance of such, and he rolled his eyes so only his sister could see. He loved Hermione, really, but there were more important things... not that he would say so to her face right now. He remembered her little birds all too well.
